Position Overview:
MOHELA (Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority), a nationally-recognized leader in student loan servicing, is currently seeking a Rececptionist/Processing Specialist for its Columbia, MO Servicing Center. The individual will perform general Receptionist duties along with processesing incoming mail and facsimiles.  Starting salary is $15.10/hour. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • General Statement of Duties:  Performs general receptionist duties.  Classifies, scans, stores, retrieves, qc’s and updates documents.  Processes incoming mail and facsimiles.  Responsible for gaining knowledge of organizational and functional responsibilities. Responsible for some repair and maintenance of machines and moving of office supplies.  Responsible for gaining a complete knowledge of Postal rates and services.  The accuracy of this work affects all departments in the company.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Switchboard - Answer and direct all incoming calls received through the switchboard in a polite and professional manner.  Use discretion to discern priority calls that require attention.  Take messages when necessary.
  • Reception - Greet each visitor to MOHELA using a professional and pleasant manner.  Identify visitor’s needs and notify particular staff or departments of their visitor’s presence.  Maintain the Visitor Log.  Accept incoming lobby deliveries and monitor outgoing lobby deliveries.
  • Building Administration Assistance –
    • Lobby Entrance Security – Distribute and track visitor badges.  Distribute/track temporary badges for authorized personnel and provide instruction and escort notification for unauthorized personnel & visitors.
    • Cleaning Crew Tracking - Maintain weekly calendar for cleaning crew.  Contact cleaning crew for special needs/request for building personnel.
    • Remotely grant access to dock deliveries.
    • Schedule reservations for the MOHELA Board Room.
    • Provide support for finger printing.
  • Processing Mail - 
    • Incoming – Open, sort and distribute incoming mail appropriately
    • Outgoing  - Responsible for gaining knowledge of Postal rates and services and utilizing the mail machine to apply the proper postage for the letter or parcel.  fficiently and accurately utilize the mailing equipment to process outgoing mail in a timely manner and at the least possible cost.  Prepare all overnight packages via the internet and overseas mail for pickup.  Ensure all overseas mail has the proper amount of postage.  Update daily logs per procedures, recording volume of mail processed.  
  • Correspondence Processing – Review incoming correspondence/forms (mail and facsimile) and determine the action required and its priority.  Sort, date, and batch correspondence and update the appropriate MOHELA servicing system(s), following established procedures.  Thorough understanding of demographic modules within each servicing system and thorough knowledge of all forms coming into the agency and what they are.
  • Print Operator Back-up – Operate the printers as back-up to the Print Processing Clerk
  • Inserter Operation Back-up – Operate the Inserter as back-up to the System Specialist
  • Support Service – Moving supplies, boxes, furniture, etc. as needed and supporting    departments with miscellaneous requests.  Follow established departmental schedule and deliver forms, paper, and miscellaneous supplies.

Additional Incentives:
·         Earn $1,000 within 60-90 days, plus an additional $100/biweekly for opting-out of MOHELA’s medical plan. (must show proof of being insured by another group medical plan).

 
Hours 
·         8am-5pm Monday through Friday schedule.

Skills/Qualifications Required:
·         High school diploma or GED. Twelve months of general office experience, preferably as a receptionist. 
·         Outstanding Attendance and Punctuality
·         Ability to Provide Excellent Customer Service
·         Strong Verbal and Written Communication skills
·         Excellent Time Management and Multi-tasking Skills
·         Strong Computer Skills
·         Must Possess a Friendly and Professional Speaking Voice and Patient Demeanor
·         Must NOT be in default on any federal student loans or defaulted loans that are guaranteed by the federal government (typically 270 days past due)
·         Must be able to obtain a Federal 5C Security Clearance after hire
